Icron Participates in HD-PLC Alliance Showcase at 2008 CES

BURNABY, B.C. January 4, 2008- Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB® announced they are participating in the HD-PLC Alliance showcase at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) currently taking place in Las Vegas, from January 7 to the 10th, 2008. The High Definition Power Line Communication (HD-PLC) organization is dedicated to advancing the spread of HD- PLC and raising awareness of its benefits.

Integrating Icron’s patented ExtremeUSB technology and Panasonic’s leading edge HD-PLC power line communications devices, Icron will demonstrate the transparent bridging of USB 2.0 over standard power lines enabling remote connection of any USB 1.1 or 2.0 devices such as keyboards, printers, flash drives, hard drives and web cameras over the AC outlets in your home or office.

“We are excited to once again be able to showcase the flexibility of our ExtremeUSB technology which takes USB beyond the desktop. With the help of Panasonic’s leading edge HD-PLC devices, we have been able to quickly implement our platform to extend USB 2.0 over standard power lines.” stated Robert Eisses, President and CEO of Icron Technologies. ”With power line technology poised to be a major catalyst for converged home network solutions, Icron will be actively working with Panasonic and its HD-PLC technology to integrate USB 2.0 into that picture”. The power line implementation complements Icron’s portfolio of solutions that extend USB over a variety of media, including wired (CAT 5 and Fiber Optic) and wireless (802.11g radio and UWB).

Icron will be demonstrating an integrated USB 2.0 over power line four port hub and dongle set that enables standard plug and play connection of any USB device. Transparently extending a USB 2.0 connection over standard power lines, the system operates without the need for additional software drivers on Windows, Linux, and MAC-OS systems. Panasonic’s HD-PLC chipset provides the physical layer connection, enabling reliable communication at data rates up to 190Mbps over standard power lines.

Solutions are expected to be available to the market by the end of Q1 2008.

“Icron’s integration of this technology can provide customers with the ultimate flexibility to locate any USB device anywhere in the home ordinary AC outlets exist, with unsurpassed ease of setup,” commented Robin Sweeten, Group Manager, Strategic Marketing for the Panasonic Industrial Company. “We are pleased that they have joined the growing number of companies supporting HD-PLC as the technology of choice for the throughput speed and stability it delivers.”
