Icron Technologies Completes USB 3.0 Interoperability Testing with Texas Instruments Controllers

Interoperability of Icron’s ExtremeUSB® based USB 3.0 Spectra extender series with TI’s USB 3.0 Hub Controller Line offers high-speed connectivity for USB port connections

Burnaby, British Columbia – March 18, 2015 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, today announced its USB 3.0 extension solutions have successfully completed USB 3.0 interoperability testing with USB 3.0 hub controllers from Texas Instruments (TI). Testing demonstrates Icron’s 15-meter USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 active copper extension cable and the 100-meter USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3022 fiber based extender system operate with TI hub models TUSB8020B, TUSB8020B-Q1, TUSB8040A, TUSB8040A1, TUSB8041 and TUSB8041-Q1.

TI’s interface products and solutions enable high bandwidths and longer transmission distances, while reducing system size, cost and complexity including a complete portfolio of USB solutions. TI’s USB 3.0 hubs offer fast up and down stream routing by providing simultaneous SuperSpeed USB and high- or full-speed connections on the upstream port and SuperSpeed USB, high-, full or low-speed connections on the downstream ports. In addition to hub controllers, the portfolio is comprised of a variety of host and on-the-go products, switches, repeaters, transceivers and other peripherals. These products are available for a wide range of industrial, automotive, communications, personal electronics and enterprise computing equipment. Designers are incorporating TI’s USB 3.0 hub controllers into docking stations, switches, hubs and re-timers for many computing systems requiring USB 3.0 functionality.

Icron’s Spectra series of extenders provide robust extension solutions addressing industrial and commercial USB 3.0 applications. For short range operation, the Spectra 3001-15 is a bus powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 15 meters while providing a full 5V, 900mA of current. If longer extension is required, Icron’s Spectra 3022 extender system has the capability to extend up to 100 meters and beyond over multimode OM3 fiber optic cabling. Both extenders support throughputs of 5 Gbps and feature locking connectors per the AIA USB3 Vision™ specification. Additionally, the extenders come with a two-year warranty and include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers), and compatibility with all major operating systems including Windows® 8.
