Icron Sells its Fiber-optic Products to Defence Industry

Vancouver, British Columbia, September 10, 2003 – Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX.V:IT) today announced it has completed a major shipment of its products to a US-based defence contractor.

Icron’s sale of its USB Ranger 422 products, totalling over $70,000, was handled by Connectronics, one of Icron’s key US distribution partners. Icron is not naming the customer because of the sensitive and competitive nature of the market segment. The Icron USB Ranger 422 uses a fiber-optic link as it extends a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection to a distance of up to 2 kilometers between host computer and peripheral devices.

The USB Ranger 422 and other Icron products are gaining success in military computing markets. Icron’s use of a fiber-optic link provides a secure, cost-effective physical connection that resists electromagnetic interference (EMI) while preserving the USB signal protocol over very long distances – benefits that are especially important in ‘hardened’ environments.

“Icron’s fiber-optic based USB extension products are uniquely positioned to satisfy the connectivity needs of this market segment,” stated Kevin Lee, Icron’s Vice-President, Sales and Marketing. “We plan to grow our list of customers in this category over the coming months,” he continued.

Rob Timm, President of Connectronics said, “We are delighted to build on our relationship with Icron with this order. Icron’s product line plays an important role in our business of supplying the connectivity needs of our demanding customers worldwide. Icron’s products are innovative and are performing strongly for us.”
